I wanna share with you my creamy vegan oatmeal recipe – it’s super easy to make and also so healthy nutritious and totally delicious! I would probably say it’s one of my favorite breakfast recipes.
So many people are posting blog posts about how there are zero chances to go wrong when making an oatmeal. I bet most of you have had a disappointing bowl of it at some point in your life. Perhaps you wished it was just a little hotter or a little creamier or even a little better looking.
It certainly doesn’t have to be this way! I’ve gathered some tips and wrote down a recipe to prove that oatmeal can be delicious as well.
Bring the heat down
Wait until your water/milk reaches a boil. Add your oats and bring it down to a simmer over low or medium-low heat. NOT TOO LOW. You certainly want it to bubble a bit, but the problem is, that people tend to cook the oatmeal over way too high heat, that is why the bottom always burns.
Try not to make your oatmeal boring! I usually add cinnamon, cause I really LOVE the taste, but you can add whatever you like, just make sure the spices are ground – otherwise they’ll be really hard to pick out of the creamy stuff you made.
You can use any plant milk, fruit or sweetener you want.
Don’t be afraid to add you FAV ingredients like for example cocoa powder, nut butter, superfoods etc. Try to experiment!
What if I can’t eat oats?
If you can’t eat oats you can always use quinoa, millet or buckwheat instead.
- 200ml soy milk (or any other plant milk)
- 200ml water
- 60g rolled oats
- 1 banana
- 1 teaspoon agave syrup (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Pour the milk and water in a saucepan and bring it to boil.
- Add the oats and cinnamon, cover the saucepan and cook over medium or low heat for about 10 or 15 minutes.
- Place the mixture in a bowl, then add one sliced banana and blueberries to taste.
